The Classic, featuring Feyenoord and Ajax, is the biggest football match in the Netherlands. Every time it’s played the rivalry between Rotterdam and Amsterdam peaks. As the sponsor of both teams, adidas wanted to celebrate The Classic with the fans in a positive, respectful, fun way. We pitched two comedians (and football fans) against each other and let the rivalry do its job. Feyenoord fan Jandino Asporaat and Ajax addict Roue Verveer visited the Kuip and the Arena together, resulting in a film full of hilarious banter as well as mutual respect. We released the film through the Feyenoord and Ajax social channels two days before The Classic. Viewed by 1.3M fans in just 48 hours, many said spontaneously that is “how football rivalry should be”.
