The latest campaign directed by Lance Kelleher for Africell “Change” was definitely born in a world of change.
Shot over five days in Luada Angola in November 2020 in a covid nervous world were just some of the challenges faced by the production crew.
Filmed amongst some breathtaking locations creating a stunningly visual back drop with a cast of star studded celebrities Kelleher takes us on this journey for change.
“For me this was an extraordinary project. I was genuinely excited and challenged knowing that it had been a strange time and I embraced the idea of ‘change’; change across multiple social divides and prejudices,” Kelleher says. “Angola is laden with natural treasures which are enjoyed by the few while 99% live in the third world. It is a dangerous undertaking, many quarters I seek out require armed bodyguards. It’s savage and humbling from one minute to the next; there is music, dancing and gun shots everywhere you go.”
Having travelled to Angola previously Lance was prepared. “I knew to trust your sixth sense and the people around you of how and when you raise your camera. I did not have the luxury of film making indulgence here, just a camera and a couple of lenses with a local film student and his drone.
”The production crew were tasked to create some massive scenes. With the help of local artists, film students and tradesman no stone was left unturned.
“This could not have worked if there was not a 100% commitment to the vision and to the people we encountered here. We worked as a team, were patient and taught local people our skills. SO infectious was it that the agency and client responded and weigh in on every level. Immediately you feel the result will be amazing”.
Lance also photographed the stills for the print campaign.
